ABOUT GREEN COUNTRY CHAPTER The present Green Country Chapter of MOAA was organized in late 1958 as the Eastern Oklahoma Chapter of TROA. Twenty-four Officers attended the first official meeting at which the following officers were elected:RADM Hugh Thompson, USN, President LTC Dudley Britton, USA, Vice President LTC Hugh Huxd, USA, 2nd Vice President LT Leonard Goldman, AUS, Secretary Treasurer LT Peter Campbell, USA, Assistant SecretaryThe chapter received it’s charter effective 30 March 1959. As the Northeastern Oklahoma area became commonly known as “Green Country” the chapter name was changed to the Green Country Chapter of TROA on 9 December 1974 during the Presidency of LTC Grant Rice, AUS. In the late 1970s chapter membership reached nearly 200, but has since dropped to about 125. In January 2003 The Retired Officers Association became the Military Officers Association of America.
